Enjoying National Young Leadership Summer Mission to Israel
Just after the “We Are Family” Mission returned from Israel, another group from Miami embarked on a special trip of their own to the Jewish spiritual homeland. Thirty-eight singles and couples from Miami joined more than 200 peers from across the U.S. for the National Young Leadership Summer Mission to Israel, a trip presented by The Jewish Federations of North America and The Network of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation.
Nationally co-chaired by Miami’s own Matthew L. Adler — with Will Springer as Miami bus captain — the mission provided an opportunity for participants to enjoy a unique view of Israel. Among many other activities, the group rafted down the Jordan River; partied in the desert; floated in the Dead Sea; greeted the sunrise atop Masada; and visited an IDF army base and one of Miami’s partnership cities, Yerucham.
Jon Broder, one of the mission participants, said, “Our trip to Israel was truly a bonding experience with the people and the country — and spirituality. If you’ve ever wanted to go back to being a teenager knowing what you know now, then visit Israel again! It surprised me in new ways, rekindled my enthusiasm for all things Jewish, and introduced me to new friendships that will last a lifetime.”
